Lets face it, sometimes blender crash. That have always been the case and will always bee no matter how good the coders are. But what can be done to make the artists life a little easier when it happens?

If blender at start up could know that the last time blender was used it crashed(like firefox do), it could show a message in the splash saying something like: "Sorry for crashing. Do you want to load the last autosaved version of your blend-file? And maybe report a bug to the bugtracker?"

Pseudo code for programmers:
[startup]
IF(NOT closedCorrectly) DO askToLoad()

closedCorrectly = false; // and save this in some file
[/startup]

[shutdown]
closedCorrectly = true; // and save this in some file
[/shutdown]

When an application crashes, the user usually wants to restart it and go on working. It is possible to spawn a window offering to do so, instead of falling immediately. Furthermore, such a window can gather detailed debugging information about the crash.
For example, KDE applications do this by default:

When a lengthy animation is being rendered, blender should work without user supervision. Blender does not crash often when rendering, but especially the beta sometimes does.
It would be nice if some setting would make blender automatically restart and continue re-rendering the last frame that failed (expecting that the error does not happen always).
