As a long-time 3ds Max user who is gradually migrating to Blender, I miss support for importing and exporting 3ds Max files.

Autodesk has closed formats, so it isn't possible to get these formats into blender :(
You will have to use other formats like .obj etc.

But probably in the future you can use Verse for that (verse is a realtime interaction tool, that synchronizes across blender=Gimp=max etc.
This worked with gimp and old blender 2.4< allowing some realtime texture editing over the programs.
If someone added support for max your problem would be probably solved^^, but I guess thats a hard thing to achieve.

But, of course, Blender can do that ;)
