Rationale
Here is an interesting paper, which is geared toward programming language developers, but may be of general interest to Blender developers. It was given the Best Paper Award at the 2011 International Conference of Parallel and
Distributed Computing held in London last July. Basically, it describes a procedure to speed up parallel processing by up to 82%. It mentions Stanford's data parallel extension of the C language called Brook, intended for efficient execution on computers with GPU co-processors, which reminded me of Cycles. http://tinyurl.com/3fdzlcp Enjoy.
