Idea #396: Performance Improvements in Fluids

Written by Gustave the 18 Sep 11 at 08:47. Category: Particles. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
After reviewing Smoke and Fluids in Blender 2.5 for quite sometime it would be nice to see some performance and process optimizations. I have compared Maya (2011/2012) and other utilities in the computation and simulation of both smoke and fluids. Blender seems to be relatively slow at producing the same effect. The other tools have used various optimizations, dynamically adjusting the bounding domain and GPU accelerations.

This is not a critique but merely an observation.

These papers was planned to be part of GSOC, this summer.
Unfortunately, it was abandonned.
Maybe, it will, next year.
