Rationale
All it would be nice to have Ptex capability within Blender. If this is not already something which is being considered or such I can spin up a project to design and implement within blender. If this is already a project or on the radar then I can assist.

For those who would like to know more about Ptex I have included the link. In short Ptex is a Walt Disney technique for using seamless textures without UV unwrapping. This is being implemented by many 3D packages and Renderers since Disney has made this open source.

Ptex is already done in blender.
It's in the GSOC sculpt branch, that isn't merged to trunk yet.
expect that to come at 2.61-2.62
