I do not have this problem. Try updating Quicktime; I believe Blender uses a converter with Quicktime that translates PSDs into a flat image, thus usable in Blender.

I never use psd directly in XSI or Maya. Is too heavy for nothing ( with all layers ). I always keep my psd for working my texture and I convert it in another format ( flatten) for use it in my 3D software. |

I sometimes "prototype" texture on photoshop (so you just save and no need to Export as/flatten) , then when final of course export them as flat images, so PSD support is a nice.
And it is actually working perfectly fine. You just have to enable Maximum Compatibility when saving your photoshop file, otherwise it will not work.
I think this idea is already implemented. Works in 2.5 |

If there was a script for this in 2.49, then this is simply missing- But extra- functionality. I doubt it was removed on purpose, the old script is of course not at all compatiple with 2.5x.
"Just implementing it" could take a long time, by the way. |

This indeed is dependant on Quicktime. This means that only OSX builds and Win32 builds of Blender will be able to support this, as they already do. |
