Rationale
When adding a Compositing effect in the Node editor it's always important to compare what the node I've just added changed. But there is no way to quickly disable a node, I always need to disconnect it, and then reconnect it to the following one

There is a shortcut - select a node and press m - for mute.
It prevents the node from affecting the viewer node output so it only shows in the background preview but doesn't change the final render.
