Written by netbuz10101 the 5 Sep 10 at 19:54. Category: Blenderstorm. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: Awaiting moderation
Rationale
A lot of features out there interest people, and there are a lot of coders out there as well.

There is a difference between "a cool feature" and "a feature I'd pay for".

Some developers already accept donations to help offset their volunteer coding time.

It would be great to be able to pay directly to the development of specific features. Especially if no one is already working on it.

Nice idea - maybe we could incorporate something like chipin.com or pledgie.com, to track how much is pledged to an idea and it could be paid to the dev that implements it.
Would we collect as it is pledged or would this be a collect on completion?

We would need to implement the other idea of having developers nominate the ideas they are working on, probably with some policy to cover two devs working on the same idea. Maybe a vote for which solution gets accepted?

It's a good idea but have very complex pitfalls...
This will give great possibilities but also some real difficulties.
First (not bad) - rivals. I imagine a big ammount of the forum's flood, hates and almost "holy wars". Because where money is - there can be problems. It's differs from pure donations.
Second - many "third" countries not support PayPal but there are full of hidden tallents. This system can discourage them.

There are problems, as highlighted by Campbell here:
